Isle of Purbeck and Poole-based stone and aggregates company Suttles has sponsored Poole-based Dexter Sports YFC, who recently achieved their goal of joining the Dorset and Wiltshire Ability Counts League. Suttles supplied all the team with rain jackets, giving the team a boost in their training and on match days.
Dexter Sports YFC consists of players with a variety of disabilities and levels of football ability. The section includes two players that are in the South West England Cerebral Palsy Squad and one in the Dorset Disability Under 18 Squad with another in the Under 14 Squad. The team includes players aged between 16 to 33 years and are based in the wider local area.
Paul Kybert, who runs Dexter Sports Ability Counts said ‘We’re very proud of the team’s achievements and it’s great that a well established company such as Suttles is supporting all our hard work. We had a three year programme to get a team playing in an Ability Counts League, which we have now achieved by joining the Dorset and Wiltshire Ability Counts League. Prior to this we played friendlies and tournaments.’
Director of Suttles, Chris Suttle said ‘one of my sons, James, occasionally plays with the team. It’s a really well organised club and I’m proud to be able to give our support to these budding local footballers!’
Suttles has been part of the local stone industry since the 1930’s as stone merchants and quarry owners. They are based in 3 locations across the Isle of Purbeck & Poole, and are a local employer of around 45 people. Suttles serves the building and engineering industries with stone, sand and gravel requirements and the public with decorative aggregates for their gardens, pathways and drives.
Dexter Sports YFC is open to people with a disability that want to train and play football in a fun but competitive environment – all players are welcome. The club conforms to laid down best practices and has achieved the FA Charter Standard, an FA ‘kitemark’. The coaches are qualified to a minimum FA Level One Coaching and Level One Coaching Disabled Footballers courses and are CRB checked.
